Last Friday I went to see the Orthopaedic Doc for my Frozen Shoulder. Nothing new, same thing. He says I’m in the early stages of Phase 1. There are 3 phases to this and it will last about a year to 18 months.
I needed refills on the pain pills (day and night) and the anti inflammatory. By taking all of these I was able to make it through the day; barely.
I wanted something more effective and I really need to sleep. You cannot sleep with this and he knows that.
Long story short. He gave me a coupon for a free 14 days of this “new” drug to try. Then he e-faxed a prescription over to the drug store.
I expected all the refills would be there as well. But, when I got there the new drug is so new they didn’t have it. The Pharmacist told me it’s the same thing as the other prescription I had last month. The only difference is the time release mechanism. Anyway, this new drug just got FDA approval in Jan 2009. Hmmmmm, I think my Doc is in bed with the big Pharmaceutical companies.
I asked the pharmacist to call the Doc’s office and ask if I could just refill the other prescription since this new one wouldn’t even be in until Monday. He said no and only gave me a few pills of the older stuff until the new drug arrived.
On top of that there was no antiinflammatory and no night time pain relief refills.
Yesterday I checked the drug store’s web site to learn more about this new drug. I found the prescription and he only ordered 14 tablets with no refills. I don’t get it. That’s 2 weeks with just one pain pill that is less in strength than the one I had that wasn’t really working. And, no refills. And, I don’t see him again for 6 weeks. No, this new drug is not a narcotic. There is no reason to not have refills on this.
So, I have a zero effective pain pill, no anti-inflammatory and no night time pain relief.
I’m calling today and call him on this. I want to know why he’s doing this when the older “same thing” drug is fine just needed to increase the dosage.
I’m highly suspicious of his actions and the motivation behind his actions.
Enough of that. Here’s some pictures of my furbabies. I took these a couple of days ago.

That Dr. sounds like a quack..
Uhhh Deb,
Maybe it is time to get a new doctor. If you are in serious pain she should be giving you something to stop the pain plus and anti-inflammatory. You can not function in your day to day life if you are not sleeping well not to mention in pain.
My doc gives me percocet and flexeril for my back, I also have lidocain pain patches. I only take the meds when needed because you can become addicted.
I love the pics of the girls!
